This year the pupils at Hawkswood have had book giveaways, where they chose up to 20 books to take home and share with their families, to promote reading for pleasure.
The books were brilliant and were very happily received by the children and ranged from phonics books, magazines, poetry books, non-fiction, and fiction… we were very spoilt!
We also put on a workshop for parents on how to support their children better when reading at home and to show them how reading is conducted in our school.
As well as all of this, the children have also got a new library this year, where they can relax once a week and dive into a great book however, as the weather has got better, we have also been taking the time to read outside. Miss Bishop is very proud of all the pupils and their reading; it is not easy but you all work so hard and that is how we reach our goals.
